Actionnel challenged us from the viewpoit of the Great Commission found in Matthew 28. It was good to hear from him about what our God is doing in and through the people of Bayonnais. We were able to do some Q&A at the end of his sermon.

If you are a Jesus follower, then God considers you a minister both in the mundane, routine parts of life as well as in the once in a life-time opportunities. At the end of the message, Chris handed everyone a business card with the Radiant Life logo with the title “Staff” written on it and told everyone “Welcome to the Radiant Life Staff”

His main text came from John 20. Jesus gives us His peace (through His life, death, burial and sacrifice) and then He commissions us to bring peace into the world (family, neighborhood, friendships, etc.) we live by replicating Jesus.
Next Sunday, Jacob will lead us in a teaching related to our church being “attractional or missional” and what all that means for you.

Standard Podcasts [ 39:15m]: Play Now | Play in Popup | Download | Embeddable Player | Hits (23)This was Superbowl Sunday. We took a look at Luke 15 where Jesus told 3 stories that each drilled a little deeper into the Pharisee’s heart. In fact the Pharisee’s thought God’s heart was a lot like their heart: divided between those they loved and those they didn’t love. The Pharisee’s favored those who followed their rules. They hated those who were unclean, broken, foul or blatenly disobedient. Their heart was divided and confused about what love looks like.
Jesus started with 100 sheep, then He told a story about 10 coins and zeroed in on 1 son. The stories went from impersonal to personal. We talked about how something of value was lost: 1 sheep, 1 coin and 1 son. The shepeherd, lady and dad all went on permanent “search mode:” until the thing that was lost was found. Once it was found, there was great celebration.
Next week, we’ll get CLARITY on being a missionary church.

This was our 4th week in a series we’ve called CLARITY. We’re looking to clarify our UNIQUE Kingdom Concept. Rafael walked us through some definitions of diversity using words like: “differences”, “inclusiveness”, “variety”…
Using three important characters in Scripture (Jesus, Paul & John), Rafael highlighted their perspective on diversity and how diverse should the church be.
Jesus (Luke 4:18) is an example of a calling to diversity: social, political, physical and emothional
Paul (Galatians 3:28) challenges us to be diverse in our nationalities, races, political and gender.
John (Revelation 7:9) describes what worship will be like in Heaven and how it ought to be here on earth. A great diverse “ethnos” coming together untied in worship and fellowship and service. God is interested in every nation, which will enrich our own worship experiences.

He taught us through the passage in 1 Corinthians 12 where Paul using the body metaphor for the church. The church is not a business. An organization run by professionals. It is a living organism: alive, growing, able to adapt to environments and connected to its life source: God.
Bob pointed out that God is a master artist blending all the colors together into the church. “Colors are great on their own, but phenomenal when blended together by the master artist.”

Well this particular week, Chris found a way to tie them all together. Check out how all this seemingly unrelated and confusing stuff all connects together to bring some clarity in times of transition. Chris also described what the next 4 weeks look like in this series that hopefully will bring the CLARITY you’re looking for.

Sermon Series: CLARITY
Discovering Our (RLF) Kingdom Concept
Week 1: Transitions
Week 2: The odds are stacked against us
Week 3: Our Collective Potential
Week 4: Diversity
Week 5: Superbowl 2009
Week 6: Peace out! Now Go!
Week 7: Attractional vs. Missional
Is it possible that God has a special calling for our church? The first step in ascertaining a unique vision is to discover our Kingdom Concept. The Kingdom Concept is the simple, clear, “big idea” that defines how your church will glorify God and make disciples. Your Kingdom Concept is not to “glorify God” or to “make disciples” in and of itself. These ideas reflect the biblical mandate for every church. Rather, our Kingdom Concept is what differentiates us from every other church in HOW we develop followers of Jesus for God’s ultimate honor. Our Kingdom Concept answers important questions like: “What is our greatest opportunity to have an impact on the Kingdom?” and “What can we do better than 10,000 other churches?” It’s our organizational sweet spot. With a clear understanding of a Kingdom Concept, our leadership can capture and release amazing energy toward a better future. Once we discover our unique Kingdom Concept, as a church, we will be free to live as God has uniquely created and called us to do in our unique setting. The best way to find our Kingdom Concept is to look at the intersection of the three circles that represent aspects of our church’s God given uniqueness.
Bob was our teacher. He walked us through the difference between change and transition. He highlighted the pros and cons of the various stages of transitions in our lives and in our church. Transitions include ENDINGS, NEUTRAL ZONES and NEW BEGINNINGS. He challenged us to evaluate where we found ourselves on the transition specturm. Bob reminded us that wherever we found ourselves…God is with us molding our hearts to reflect His heart.

Moses gives Pharoah a chance to decide the exact time when all the plague of frogs would be gone. Pharoah responds with “Tomorrow” and it’s hard to imagine why. That’s the jist of what we cover in this (the last Sunday of 2008) teaching.
Standard Podcasts [0:32:08m]: Play Now | Play in Popup | Download | Embeddable Player | Hits (11)Life is messy. In sterile environments, nothing grows. But, if you really want to see life it comes in the mess. It’s growing. It’s dirty. It’s in the midst of the mess and the dirt and the dying…that’s where life comes from. The kingdom of God sprouts in some really messy places. Philippians 1:6 being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus. The church grows and puts the Kingdom on display in the midst of the mess. Where could the Kingdom of God break through your own personal mess? What will it produce? Will it produce: love, joy, peace, patience, goodness, gentleness, kindness, self-control, generosity and love?

Chris continued our Advent Conspiracy theme by contrasting the Spend Less $ on ourselves this Christmas season and Give more of ourselves relationally.
Spend Less, Give More, Worship Well, Love Like Jesus
A few of our Urban Restoration friends participated in a panel discussion that was very rich.
